Mechanism of action
Charlotte 24 Fe decreases the risk to become pregnant by inhibiting ovulation. Other possible mechanisms may be implied cervical mucus changes that supress sperm penetration and endometrial changes that reduce the likelihood of implantation.
Mode of application and dosage
Charlotte 24 Fe must be taken exactly as indicated in the instruction for use. It is nessary to do to achieve the relible effect of the contraceptive drug. One tablet should be taken orally at the same time every day. Wash down the pill with water. Tablets must be taken in the order directed on the blister pack. Tablets should not be missed or taken at intervals exceeding 24 hours. Charlotte 24 Fe may be administered irregardless of meals.
Contraindications
- Puberty;
- Breast cancer (including suspected);
- Malignant tumors of the female genital organs;
- Pregnancy (including suspected, with the exception of cases of miscarriage);
- Jaundice (including history);
- Acute liver diseases (including benign and malignant neoplasms);
- Impaired liver and kidney function;
- hyperbilirubinemia;
- Tendency to thrombosis;
- Acute thrombophlebitis or thromboembolism;
- Urinary tract bleeding of unknown origin;
- Genital bleeding of unknown origin;
- A history of pregnant cholestic jaundice or a history of pruritus;
- Obesity;
- Herpes;
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Precautions: bronchial asthma, chronic heart failure, epilepsy, arterial hypertension, migraine, renal failure, seizures or other disorders of the central nervous system (including a history), diabetes.
Side effects
- Severe cardiovascular events and stroke;
- Vascular disorders;
- Liver disease.
Adverse reactions commonly reported are:
- irregular uterine bleeding;
- nausea;
- breast tenderness;
- headache.

Charlotte 24 Fe and pregnancy
There is almost no risk of birth defects in women who inadvertently use this drug during pregnancy. The application of this birth control drug to induce withdrawal bleeding should not be applied to test a pregnancy. This drug should not be applied during pregnancy to treat threatened or habitual abortion.
